The idea that Mary Magdalene could have been Jesus’ bride or wife is not a new idea. It famously circulated as a fictional story in the Dan Brown’s book the “Da Vinci Code”. It created a lot of controversy and was very quickly branded as a conspiracy. What if there is some truth to this conspiracy and we shouldn’t throw this idea away completely? After all, the difference between conspiracy and truth is about 6 months. Or two thousand years in this case. After this video you will want to review the “Da Vinci Code” movie again with a view that it might have been truth covered as a fiction to quickly dilute this idea out of people’s minds.
The first thing we have to examine is the fact that Mary wasn’t just a random woman that happened to meet Jesus by accident and that anointed His feet and who was present at the most important events of Jesus. It was all ordained by God and that anointing had a deeper meaning.
The lack of information about Mary, yet having such a prominent role by being Jesus’s witness to the crucifixion and then resurrection, resulted in many speculations and fantasies, attaching more stories and stigmas than any other disciple had. Conspiracies that she was His wife or a partner circulated around for centuries and perhaps people in the second or third century knew the truth, however as we know, Roman Catholic church hidden or destroyed a lot of information. After all, Vatican is wrapped in a lot of secrecy and it’s nothing new that they were withholding information from people. It doesn’t help that there isn’t much information about Mary’s Magdalene family name. What we know is that she was from a town called Magdala and this is what identified her. It also doesn’t help that in the Bible we have quite few women called Mary. Mary, the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, Mary’s sister Mary… This can be very confusing.
Why then Mary was called by her town?
In the first century women would be identified as coming from husband’s name or if not married, from father’s name. It was very rare that they would be identified differently, however what we have with Mary is Magdala, which is the towns name and this was not accidental.
Magdala means “tower” or “fortress”, therefore she is Mary “the tower”. This was to signal her strength but also, in Proverbs 18:10 we read:
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10
“The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer” Psalm 18:2
Therefore Mary is the daughter of a strong tower and fortress, in other words she is the daughter of the Most High God, who is identified as the “tower” and “fortress”. God is our tower and our rock. Therefore Magdala identifies her with her father – the Most High God and she is the Daughter of God. This is the confirmation that she is more than just a random person.
In the Old Testament we are presented with two anointed ones, two olive trees that stand on both sides of God, which we see first in the book of Zechariah:
“Then I answered and said to him, “What are these two olive trees—at the right of the lampstand and at its left?” Zechariah 4: 11
So he said, “These are the two anointed ones, who stand beside the Lord of the whole earth.” Zechariah 4: 14
The book of Isaiah is another book that presents us with two Servants of God and two Anointed ones. This book is a conversation of God with His two servants and therefore it’s not written in chronological order of the events, because it goes back and forth between those Servants. At times, it is difficult to distinguish at which point God is directing His words to Jesus and at what point to the Second Servant. Therefore it has to be treated as a book of hidden meanings. I have gone into more details in my other post on Two Servants of God.
The first Servant is of course Jesus, where Isaiah prophesied about the Son being born and how He will be a King, a shepherd and how He will in and He is also described as a witness.
The Second Servant in the book of Isiah has many names – Daughter of Zion, Jerusalem, Israel, disappointing vineyard, desolate – she is the Daughter of God. In the book of Isiah chapter 50 Jesus is her hope, he is her redeemer. She is also referred to as the “desolate” in the book of Daniel and the book of Jeremiah. People are her children and “the children of a desolate” and she is also described as a bride, but most importantly, she is a witness.
Therefore the two servants of God are two witnesses of God and two branches of God:
“Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord,
“That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness;
A King shall reign and prosper,
And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.
In His days Judah will be saved,
And Israel will dwell safely;
Now this is His name by which He will be called:
THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.” Jeremiah 23: 5-6
‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘that I will perform that good thing which I have promised to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah:
‘In those days and at that time
I will cause to grow up to David
A Branch of righteousness;
He shall execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.
In those days Judah will be saved,
And Jerusalem will dwell safely.
And this is the name by which She will be called:
THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.’ Jeremiah 33: 14-16
Therefore there is a Messiah He and Messiah She, man and a woman, just like it started with Adam and Eve.
Could Mary be the Messiah She and the wife of Jesus?
The Gospel of John chapter 2 starts with Jesus’ first miracle – turning water into wine at the wedding feast. We don’t know who’s wedding this is but we know that Jesus, his disciples and His mother Mary are invited. What I would like to draw your attention to is that Mary, Jesus’ mother, acts as someone who is instructing servants. I don’t think it is a common thing for a potential guest to instruct servants, but only parents of the married couple usually do so. We also have no information about the couple, only the bridegroom is present and the master of the feasts complements bridegroom about the wine. This for me looks like a wedding of Jesus and Mary. Controversial? Well this would explain that once Jesus was married, He then could be revealed with His first miracle.
This could also be a ritual of the “bridal chamber” practiced in Judaism, where it refers to a sacred rite or sacrament representing a profound spiritual reunion and enlightenment, often involving the mystical union of the soul with its angelic counterpart (syzygy). Once Jesus was married with his counterpart, He could access all divine powers for healing. For this to happen, the 2 had to become 1.
The moment Mary Magdalene comes into the picture is with anointing Jesus feet. It is important to say that the anointing of Jesus by Mary wasn’t also accidental. Mary cleaning Jesus’ feet with her hair and anointing with oils was a symbolic spiritual act. In the spiritual realm hair is very significant, it’s not just symbol of beauty in the physical realm but in the spiritual realm it represents identity and it’s a symbol of spiritual attachment. The fact that Mary cleansed Jesus’ feet with her hair means spiritual attachment and spiritual vows. In the spiritual realm witches and sorceress often use hair as a point of access to the spirit of the other person. Hair carries DNA and any part of DNA gives access to the spirit. Mary cleaning Jesus’s feet with her hair is telling us that their connection is very spiritual and connected with vows, therefore it wasn’t just a physical act. This could also be signaling that it was her husband.
Moreover, anointing someone was usually performed by wife, bride or a close relative. It couldn’t just be performed by a stranger. The anointing meant that Mary was regarded as someone much closer than just a disciple, perhaps a wife. Moreover, as we know from the Old Testament, only those selected by God could anoint others, therefore we have another confirmation of Mary being the Daughter of God that is anointing Jesus.
The anointing also echo’s the verse from the Old Testament where God is anointing the Daughter of God, we read in the book of Ezekiel 16:
“Then I washed you in water; yes, I thoroughly washed off your blood, and I anointed you with oil. I clothed you in embroidered cloth and gave you sandals of badger skin; I clothed you with fine linen and covered you with silk. I adorned you with ornaments, put bracelets on your wrists, and a chain on your neck. And I put a jewel in your nose, earrings in your ears, and a beautiful crown on your head.” Ezekiel 16:9-12
“Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your clothing was of fine linen, silk, and embroidered cloth. You ate pastry of fine flour, honey, and oil. You were exceedingly beautiful, and succeeded to royalty. Your fame went out among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through My splendor which I had bestowed on you,” says the Lord God.”Ezekiel 16:13-14
Therefore God anointed His daughter with oils and spices and then Mary, as the Daughter of God, anoints Jesus, the Son of God, with fragrant oil. It’s this exchange of anointing within the Godly family. The anointing signified something more than just cleaning the feet. Mary was planning to anoint Jesus after his death in the tomb, which of course didn’t happen. However the fact that she was going to the tomb on her own, as it states in the Gospel of John, means she was perhaps viewed as Jesus’s wife. The anointing of the naked body couldn’t be performed by anyone, but either by wife, bride or a close relative only.
It is very possible that Mary was Jesus’ wife. This could also explain why Jesus said those words when on the cross:
“Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.” John 19:27
This verse many interpreted as this must have been Jesus’ brother and the other son of Mary. However, this could also mean that Mary – Jesus’s mother – could have been a mother-in-law to Mary Magdalene.
This all ties into the narrative that Jesus had a wife. Of course church created the story that Jesus will marry the church, in particular focus on the church as an institution, to not only tie people into the institution and show that it is the only way to be close to Jesus, but also, the church sold this idea that Jesus will marry lots of people: men, women, children. And that Jesus will only save his bride, meaning that if you want to be saved, you have to be part of that institution.
I hope you can see the manipulation here to manipulate people by using fear of losing salvation. With this narrative, every woman could hope to be the bride of Christ, every man would also be the “bride”, which also created a lot of confusion. It was always explained as a symbolic act with the example from the Old Testament and the book of Hosea, where God married Israel and was a husband to Israel. Therefore it made sense that Jesus would marry the church and the church, according to Christianity, was about to replace Israel due to Israel’s disobedience. This was all by design and that’s why all those new doctrines like dispensationalism, eschatology, the rapture, church as the bride, were all created.
In reality, God created a model from the beginning: Adam and Eve, a man and a woman. A union of two souls, a union of two sexes and two shall become one.
“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24
This also mirrors the words of Jesus who said:
“For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”” Matthew 19:5-6
The union of Jesus and Mary represents just that, two equal souls, not in sexual sense but spiritual and intellectual sense. The union was God’s design that also mirrors in nature. Many animals form lifelong bonds and are mates for life. This is the circle of life.
Moreover, the idea of two Messiah’s, a Messiah He and Messiah She is also not a new concept in Judaism. In fact, Jews would expect for their Messiah to be married and to have a family.
In the Song of Songs we have “the beloved” and “the Shulamite”, a couple who are constantly longing for each other and are only together for a brief time. They represent the divine couple, two souls that are to become one. The bride is looking and longing for the beloved and when she thinks he arrives, he is gone to “feed his flock and his sheep” which is a reference to being a shepherd. Then the beloved asks her to not look at him because “they overtook him”, signifying possibly the crucifixion. Then she is gone as she took off her “garment” and she doesn’t want to defile her feet. The “garment” signifies the body, because for God the real you is your soul and the body is just a garment that can be eaten by moths. This is also a huge hint to the reincarnation process, which I will explain in my next post.
Interestingly, in the Gospel of John, which I explained in my other posts that Mary Magdalene was the author, we see this at the end of the book:
“Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?” Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “But Lord, what about this man?” Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.” Then this saying went out among the brethren that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you?” John 21:20-23
Therefore Jesus said that Mary will remain on earth until his second coming, however not that she will avoid physical death. The body will die but then that soul will put on a “different garment”, a different body to carry on her earthly assignment until the second coming. This means that Mary remained on earth under different lives and bodies, while Jesus was in heaven. She would be reincarnating to different bodies until Jesus’ return and when He comes back for her, she would stay in heaven and Jesus would come back to earth.
“Awake, awake! Put on your strength, O Zion; Put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city! For the uncircumcised and the unclean Shall no longer come to you. Shake yourself from the dust, arise; Sit down, O Jerusalem! Loose yourself from the bonds of your neck, O captive daughter of Zion!” Isaiah 52:1-2
This passage signifies that each garment represents different life. The Daughter of Zion puts on “beautiful garments” meaning she had many lives. “Shake yourself from the dust” meaning coming to life again and again.
Mary stayed on earth reincarnating into different lives until the second coming of Jesus, and when He comes, the marriage and the wedding will happen. Jesus will stay on earth, however she will remain in heaven and they will be separated again. This explains why she “took off her garment” so her body is not there. Her soul is in heaven and now He longs for her. Now He is on earth and longs for her and she is in the spirit only.
From the book of Revelations we know the bride will arrive later, possibly after the 1 thousand rein of Jesus’ on earth. We see that Jesus will be reigning with the Saints “and I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgement was committed to them”. There is nothing about the bride. After 1 thousand years Satan will be released and then there will be the war of Gog and Magog. Only after this we see the bride coming:
“Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:2-4
We see that after 1 thousand reign and after the last war things are made new:
“Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, “Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.” And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,” Revelation 21:9-10
Therefore two Messiah’s: Messiah He and Messiah She, who had two different roles in restoring the kingdom on earth. They were together when Jesus was on earth and Jesus passed on the baton to Mary Magdalene, who was supposed to pass on the teachings of Jesus, however this was hijacked from her by men. Only once the Satanic Kingdom will be crushed completely, they will be reunited together in the New Earth.
