Babylon was the capital of the Babylonian empire, located in Shinar, in ancient Mesopotamia on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River. Its earliest act of defiance was building the Tower of Babel. In the Old Testament, Babylon was a symbol of sin and rebellion towards God and portrayed in several ways. The story of the Tower of Babel focuses on the creation of a mighty city and tower “with its top in the heavens”. The inhabitants of the city said: “let us make a name for ourselves.” This was against God and God disrupted their work by confusing the language of people so that they could no longer understand one another.
During the Babylonian empire, it consisted of two different empires located on both banks of the Euphrates River to control river’s seasonal floods .These two empires gained regional supremacy and Babylon enjoyed an unusually long reign of power and grandeur. Despite its sinful ways, it developed one of the most advanced civilizations in the ancient world.
Babylon is both a literal city and a symbolic representation of ungodly, worldly spirituality. It is also a symbol of the wickedness and evils of the world. It represents disobedience towards God, sexual immorality, pride and worship of other gods. The future of Babylon is described in the Book of Revelation 17:5, where we see many names of Babylon as
“MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”
The word “mystery” has been causing a lot of confusion and division in opinions over what Babylon represent today. From scripture we see that woman usually represents nation or religious system. There has been opinions that Babylon is America due to the cultural freedom and openness America portrays. Another opinion is that it’s Catholic church as we see in scripture in Revelation 17:4
“The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.”
Revelation 17: 6 “I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.”
“But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.” Revelation 17:7-9
“The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits” . – Vatican Hill is a hill in Rome, located on the right bank of Tiber river, opposite to the traditional seven hills of Rome. The hill also gave the name to Vatican City.
“There are also seven kings” – According to tradition, Rome had seven kings during its monarchy, which lasted from 753 BC to 509 BC.
“The beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition.” – The pope is the head of state of Vatican City, an independent city – state that’s considered an absolute monarchy.
“The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.” Revelation 17:12-13
Recently, Pope Francis signed a document with Muslim leaders about One World Religion. The joint declaration, titled ” A Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” was signed by Pope Francis and Sheikh Ahmad el – Tayeb. It calls on world leaders “to work strenuously to spread the culture of tolerance and of living together in peace; to intervene at the earliest opportunity to stop the sheading of innocent blood and bring an end to wars, conflicts, environmental decay, and the moral and cultural decline that the world is presently experiencing”.
One World Religion Headquarters is called Abrahamic Family House in the middle eastern city of Abu Dhabi. The Headquarters is being done in collaboration with Pope Francis and Sheik Ahmen el – Tayeb after signing the Document of Human Fraternity for World Peace. The Abrahamic Family House is to bring understanding and tolerance among the faiths and it will have three buildings: one building each representing the mosque, church and synagogue. However, the church is not permitted to have a cross on the building as a method of identifying as it’s illegal in the UAE. The Abrahamic House opened in March 2023.
Sounds like a great plan, let’s all be one big family… Where is the catch? This is to bring false peace stated in the book of Daniel. Jesus said, “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place…” This abomination of desolation warns us about the beast putting up an image in the temple that he makes the world to worship. Daniel 9:27 said this would happen in the middle of a “week,” which is 7 years. Revelation 11:2, 13:5, and Daniel 12:11 noted that the beast would do this for 42 months.
The first three and a half years will be a time of false peace and prosperity upon the earth, as the anti-Christ will make a treaty with the people of Israel. At the halfway point, the beast will set up an image in the temple, desecrating it. This begins the second half of the 7-year tribulation.
What can we say about the representation of Mystery Babylon today?
Babylon is a religious system that is against God’s word by adding or taking away from the word of God and that is not based on the truth.
“He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, shall persecute the saints of the Most High, and shall intend to change times and law.” Daniel 7:25-26
The Sunday law was officially confirmed by the Roman Papacy. The Council of Laodicea in A.D. 364 decreed, “Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday but shall work on that day; but the Lord’s day they shall especially honor, and, as being Christians, shall, if possible, do no work on that day.
“Then he said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.” Revelation 17:16
In February 2022, the Vatican released statistics showing that in 2020 the number of Catholics in the world increased by 16 million to 1.36 billion. That means that 17.7% of the world’s population is Catholic. Of this total, 48% are in the Americas, with 28% living in South America. Following recent trends, the Catholic Church grew most rapidly in Asia (+1.8%) and Africa (+2.1%) with very slight growth in Europe (0.3%).
“And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, as is not, and yet is.” Revelation 17:8
The Whore of Babylon or the Mother of Harlots also has daughters.
Who are those daughters? These are all other Church dominations, that follow in the steps of the Catholic church by worshiping and observing Sunday instead of the Sabbath as ordained by God – “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”
Again, as I mentioned above, Babylon represents sin and rebellion towards God. Churches are coming up with number of various excuses that sound convincing of why we don’t have to follow the Sabbath or the law of Moses anymore. This however, is nowhere in the Bible and the Bible is very clear that even Jesus did not come to abolish the law, which we see in Matthew 5:17-20
“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
Therefore, I am convinced that the Mystery Babylon represents the Vatican City and the Papacy. With the creation of One World Religion and false sense of togetherness and tolerance, it takes us back to the original creation of Babylon with two empires located on both banks of the Euphrates River to control river’s seasonal floods . In those circumstances the empires aim to control political and economic flows. Catholic church and Islam are both religions based on idolatry, rituals and festivals that are nowhere in the Bible. What is also interesting, both religions base their believes and worship on Nimrod, carefully covered and mistaken by the worship of Jesus and Mary by many Catholics.
